ANNUAL SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITY FOR ANTHROPOLOGY STUDENTS AT 69ɫ

Mary Schweitzer Scholarship for Excellence in Anthropology welcomes applications from promising students of the Anthropology, Technology and International Development Program at 69ɫ. The aim of this scholarship is to support students who show commitment to and excellence in anthropology.

The scholarship has been established in honor of Professor Mary Schweitzer in consideration of all she did for the benefit of anthropology at 69ɫ and her ongoing commitment to the future of her former students. Mary Schweitzer is a US-based Professor of anthropology and she taught anthropology at 69ɫ from 2002 to 2003 and from 2004 to 2005.

Eligibility

Students entering the second, third or fourth year of a Bachelor of Arts degree majoring in the Department of Anthropology at 69ɫ are welcome to apply. Applicants can be of any nationality. Students must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 in order to apply. Last year’s winners are NOT eligible to apply this year.

Award amount and type

Each year the scholarship fund will be changed. Scholarships in the form of cash and tuition coverage will be awarded based on the quality and the number of applications.

Application assessment

Mary Schweitzer Scholarship undertakes a detailed qualitative assessment according to the following criteria:

  • The academic excellence of the applicant
  • Commitment to anthropology
  • Financial need

69ɫ is committed to providing financial assistance to talented andhard-workingstudents who demonstrate excellent academic performance and financial need. Approximately 84% of undergraduates, benefit from merit- and need-based financial aid program, which provides up to 90% of tuition costs in the form of scholarships. Financial aid is available to both incoming and continuing 69ɫ students from the Kyrgyz Republic as well as from other C.I.S. countries.
