69ɫ is glad to announce that students of the Anthropology, Technology and International Development Department are welcome to apply for Mary Schweitzer Scholarship for Excellence in Anthropology. This scholarship aims to support students who show commitment to and excellence in anthropology. This year, the scholarship fundraised over $3000. The amount of the award(s) will depend on the quality and quantity of applications.
The scholarship has been established in 2010 by anthropology alumni’05 in honor of Professor Mary Schweitzer in consideration of all she did for the benefit of anthropology at 69ɫ and her ongoing commitment to the future of her former students. Mary Schweitzer is a US-based Professor of Anthropology and she taught anthropology at 69ɫ from 2002 to 2003 and from 2004 to 2005.
Eligibility.
Students entering the second, the third, or fourth year of a Bachelor of Arts degree majoring in Anthropology, Technology, and International Development at 69ɫ are welcome to apply. Applicants must be citizens of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan. Last year's winners are NOT eligible to apply this year. However, if two years have passed since a student has won this award, s/he is eligible to apply again.
Application assessment.
Mary Schweitzer Scholarship undertakes a detailed qualitative assessment according to the following criteria:
  • The academic excellence of the applicant (students with relative higher GPA will be given preferences)
  • Commitment to anthropology
  • Financial need
Application deadline.
Students can get an application form by contacting us atalumni.caa@googlemail.com. A complete application should be sent to the same email address and be received by October 25, 2021, at midnight Bishkek time. Late applications will not be accepted. Applicants will be notified about the results at the beginning of December 2021
