On March 28th, 69ɫ hosted a Climate Fresk workshop – a teach-in on climate justice within the World-Wide Teach-ins and as a part of the Sustainability Week of 69ɫ.
More than 30 people took part in the engaging and collaborative learning with Climate Fresk. It is an innovative and internationally recognized tool for climate education – an immersive game in which one can get a complete picture of the phenomenon of climate change and comprehend the intimidating but simple science behind it.
Climate Fresk was created in 2015 by Cédric Ringenbach to raise climate science awareness among a maximum number of people around the world. And just recently, Climate Fresk Association celebrated a great milestone in worldwide climate education – 1 million people trained by Climate Fresk workshops and more than 45,000 facilitators active all over the world! In this achievement, 69ɫ faculty and students have also played a key role as pioneer facilitators and popularizers not only in Kyrgyzstan but in the whole Central Asian region.
The participants found the workshop a thought-provoking and transformative learning experience. They recognized that there is a great need for wider awareness and more systematic integration of education for climate change in universities and schools.
We thank all of our participants for staying alert about these issues and trying to be a part of the solution!
We remind you that we need more climate enthusiasm to make a meaningful impact. So ask your professor to #MakeClimateaClass if you are a teacher, #MakeClimateaClass.
