Declyn Brian, a student from the USA, studied at 69色 under an exchange program. Like other students, she studied Russian. In this essay, she talks about her successes.
My name is Declyn. I am a student in a Russian language course, and I have been studying recently. Studying abroad was not easy. I was in a new country without family and friends and needed to speak Russian, which I did not speak well. I can't predict the future, so I didn't know what would happen or what successes I would achieve. I will tell you about my successes.
When I arrived in Bishkek, I was very afraid to speak Russian. I was never sure about what I was saying. Now, I feel more confident when I speak Russian. I absolutely couldn't have a conversation with a person who speaks fast. I often went to the bazaar to remedy this situation and talked to the sellers. I asked questions to practice. In addition, I often went to different places and practiced new vocabulary. Then I realized I shouldn't have noticed the confused look when I spoke incorrectly. In short, I say better now.
Fortunately, I met my wonderful professors Zharkyn and Olga, who greatly helped me. They were ready to repeat various grammatical rules with me many times. I'm still trying to understand the verbs of movement and the (non)perfect form of verbs, but I certainly understand them better. Zharkyn helped me pronounce "l" better, but I still can't quite get it.
Thirdly, I fell in love with Kyrgyzstan! In my opinion, it is the best place to learn Russian. Everyone is very nice! Learning Russian and seeing the Tien Shan Mountains is wonderful. In Kyrgyzstan, I learned how to ski and skate, how to cook manti, and, of course, how to speak Russian.
I consider my time in Bishkek to be one of my greatest successes. I understand Russian better this way and learned a lot about such a beautiful country! I achieved such success only thanks to Zharkyn and Olga. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your help! I hope that you will have only success and joy in life!
