DEA Special Agents at 69ɫ
March 14, 2016, Steve Murphy and Javier Pena, Special Agents with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), met with students of the American University of Central Asia (69ɫ). Steve and Javier delivered a speech on how they and their team targeted the world’s first narco-terrorist, Pablo Escobar.

Everything about applying for a SILC grant
The members of the Student Intellectual Life Committee(SILC) at the American University of Central Asia (69ɫ) told about their work to an audience of students. The SILC members gave advice on how to write applications for SILC grants, pointed out common application mistakes, reminded applicants of what is mandatory and important for applying for a SILC grant, and provided information on what grant-winners must provide after returning to 69ɫ.

Tanya Efremenko, alumna of class of 2015
Tanya Efremenko, a graduate of the Anthropology Department of class of 2015, has done several research projects, internships and service projects with organizations like HelpAge International, GIZ, UNESCO and B’Art Contemporary. She is now completing a Master’s Program in Urban Studies in Vienna.

Representatives from the U.S. Department of State in Kabul at 69ɫ
March 2 and 3, 2016, two representatives from the U.S. Department of State in Kabul, Grants Program Specialist Lynn Walroth and Cultural Affairs Assistant Janet Thompson, visited 69ɫ. The goal of their visit was to checkup on existing policies and discuss ideas for the future of the partnership.

Visiting professor from Indiana University
Anne Pyburn is a visiting professor at 69ɫ from Indiana University (IU) Bloomington. At IU, Pyburn is a professor in the Anthropology department and the Provost’s professor in the English department. In Kyrgyzstan, she has worked with archaeologists and citizens' groups to develop projects for cultural resource management.
