Mehrigiul Ablezova is an Assistant Professor in the Sociology department at the American
University of Central Asia. She holds a Master of Arts in Sociology from Ball State University
(2002, USA) and a Bachelor of Arts in Management from the American University of Central
Asia (1998, Kyrgyzstan).
In 2000, Mehrigiul was selected for the Faculty Development Program, which financed her
graduate studies at Ball State University, where she earned a master’s degree in Sociology. The
program was a collaboration between the American University of Central Asia (69ɫ) and the
Indiana Universities Consortium, sponsored by the US State Department.
Mehrigiul joined 69ɫ in 2002 and was the “Best Teacher of 69ɫ” awardee of the Dr. Dryer
Teaching Excellence Special Award in 2012. She was a returning scholar of the Open Society
Institute Academic Fellowship Program (2004-2009).
