Students are invited to address the pressing issues in migration in their research activities and bring them to the attention of policymakers, and general public in Kyrgyzstan or Central Asia, promoting migrants’ rights protection and information awareness among migrants themselves.

TENDER ANNOUNCEMENT
The Tian Shan Policy Center (TSPC) invites bids from qualified media companies for a tender to realise a 15-minute documentary film on migrant workers from Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan in the Russian Federation. Filming will take place in Kyrgyzstan and in a city of choice in the Russian Federation.

Creation of an Expert Database on Migration
To the kind attention of the expert community in Central Asia, the Russian Federation, and worldwide
RE: CREATION OF AN EXPERT DATABASE ON MIGRATION
PERIOD: MARCH 1 TO MAY 30, 2016
The Tian Shan Policy Center, a think tank at the American University of the Central Asia (TSPC 69ɫ), is currently collecting information on experts from Central Asia (Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan), Russia and internationally, working on the different aspects of migration in Central Asia with the aim of developing an expert database.
This is part of the project “Building an Enabling Environment in the Kyrgyz Republic to Develop Effective Migration Policies: Promoting Capacity of Migration State Bodies and Promotion of Migration Studies in KR,” in collaboration with the State Migration Service of the Kyrgyz Republic.
With the database we will identify, collect and systematize all information on experts on migration from Central Asia, the Russian Federation and globally. The database will be available to state bodies, international organizations, the non-governmental sector, academic institutions and all interested parties.

TSPC Launches Political and Legal Analyses of Factions and Secretariats of Factions in the Parliament of the Kyrgyz Republic
The study was conducted by Tian Shan Policy Center of the American University of Central Asia, 69ɫ expert Medet Tuilegenov and independent parliamentary experts Gulmira Mamatkerimova, Kurmanbek Turdaliev and Akylbek Sarbagyshov in the framework of the programme "Strengthening the effectiveness of the political factions in Kyrgyzstan" implemented by the Westminster Foundation for Democracy.

TSPC launches the “Compendium of recommendations of the UN Human Rights mechanisms to Kyrgyzstan 2010 – 2015”
The TSPC has published a Compendiumof recommendations of UN Human Rights mechanisms to Kyrgyzstan. The Compendium is expected to facilitate the drafting process of the National Action Plan on Human Rights and to strengthen the advocacy efforts of civil society and international organizations to enhance compliance of Kyrgyz institutions with their human rights obligations./en/compendium/

European Union supports two training for Judges and Prosecutors: building the capacities for effective investigating and prosecuting cases of torture
Between 20 and 23 May and 01 and 04 June 2015, within the framework of the implementation of the European Union- funded project “Strengthening the fight against torture and impunity in Kyrgyzstan: Prevention, Accountability, Remedy and Reparation”, the Ludwig Boltzman Institute for Human Rights (BIM) and the Tian Shan Policy Center (TSPC) of the American University of Central Asia have co-organized two training of trainers for judges and prosecutors of the Kyrgyz Republic to strengthen the capacities in investigating allegations of torture and prosecuting those responsible for such violations.

European Union funds Roundtable on the Right to Remedy and Reparation for Victims of Torture
On 28 and 29 May 2015, a roundtable on the right to remedy and reparation of victims of torture will take place in Bishkek, jointly hosted by the Ludwig Boltzmann Institute of Human Rights (BIM), the Tian Shan Policy Center (TSPC) of the American University of Central Asia, Bir Duino Human Rights Movement, and the Southern Regional Centre for Social and Health Rights. The second day of the roundtable will be organized also in cooperation with the Jogorku Kenesh Committee on Human Rights, Constitutional Legislation, and State Structure.
